WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Dec. 28, 2010)— Knapp Properties, Inc. (KPI) today announced that Matthew A. Anderson will join the company on January 10, 2011 as Vice President – Asset Management.
Anderson is currently administrator for City of Des Moines’ Office of Economic Development, a position he has held since 2002. Anderson oversees a staff of four with responsibilities varying from corporate expansions in downtown Des Moines to neighborhood commercial development to the resurgence of downtown housing. His recent project experience in Des Moines includes the $200 million Wellmark Campus, e300 Apartments in the East Village, and the 100-acre Riverpoint West project.
As a member of the Neighborhood Development Corporation’s Board of Directors, Matt has played a key role in the resurgence of the 6th Avenue commercial corridor and new retail development at East Grand and East 15th.
He was previously the Senior Asset Manager at AmerUs Capital Management, with a portfolio of more than 40 multi-family and commercial properties.
Anderson, a native of Des Moines, received his degree in finance with an emphasis in real estate from the University of Northern Iowa. Anderson and his wife Deb are avid triathletes and runners; both having completed the Las Vegas Marathon earlier this month where Matt qualified for the Boston Marathon.

The Iowa Award
Des Moines, Iowa (Janaury 8th, 2011) - William C. Knapp, Chairman Emeritus of Knapp Properties, Inc. was honored with the State of Iowa's highest citizen award, The Iowa Award. His title only begins to provide a representation of his legacy in the real estate business and the community of Des Moines.
After two years in the United States Navy and graduating from the American Institute of Business, Bill Knapp founded Iowa Realty in 1952 and gradually built the company into the premier real estate company in Iowa. Knapp Properties, Inc. was formed in 1992 by Bill Knapp to continue the development and management of his real estate business.
The Iowa Award represents the state's highest citizen award. The Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation, established in 1948 by Governor Robert D. Blue and the Iowa Legislature, created the award. The foundation wished "to encourage and recognize the outstanding service of Iowans in the fields of science, medicine, law, religion, social welfare, education, agriculture, industry, government, and other public service" and to recognize the "merit of their accomplishments in Iowa and throughout the Unitied States."
