R. MICHAEL KNAPP

R. Michael Knapp serves as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Iowa Realty Company, Inc. while serving on the board of Knapp Properties, Inc. His title represents the culmination of a richly diverse and successful 25-year career in real estate brokerage.

After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1972, Mike entered the real estate profession as a sales agent with Iowa Realty. Five years later he was promoted to Manager of Iowa Realty's Beaverdale office. In 1984, he became General Sales Manager of the residential division of Iowa Realty, and in 1991, he was promoted to Senior Vice President. During his tenure as President of Iowa Realty, Mike has negotiated three major real estate brokerage acquisitions - Byers & Happel in Cedar Rapids, Carol Jones Realtors in Springfield, Missouri, and First Realty/Better Homes & Gardens in Des Moines.

When he's not buying and selling, Mike devotes a great deal of time to community, civic and professional causes and organizations. He is a former President of the Variety Club Of Iowa as well as past President of the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors. Mike is a long-time member of Pacesetters and The Vision Group, an organization comprised of the top real estate brokers and owners from across the nation.
