Co-Chairman of the Board
William C. Knapp II is Co-Chairman of the Board of Knapp Properties. With more than forty-five years in the real estate industry, his experience and knowledge are paramount to the continuing success of the firm.
Bill Knapp II earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1974 and his Juris Doctorate from Drake University in 1977. He first joined the Wimer Law Firm in 1975 while still in law school. In 1978, Bill became Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Iowa Realty Company, Inc. In 1992, he assumed the position of President of AmerUs Properties, Inc., as well as Vice Chairman of the Board of Knapp Properties. He also served as President of Iowa Realty Commercial from 1992-1997.
In addition to his professional activities, Bill has served on the board of directors of several Iowa-based, private and public service organizations: Des Moines Neighborhood Revitalization Board; Des Moines Neighborhood Development Corporation (President); Iowa Housing Corporation; Good Samaritan Urban Ministries Development Board; Governor’s Infrastructure Advisory Committee (Co-Chair); Federal Home Loan Bank-Affordable Housing Council; Capital Value Corporation; Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute (2000 Class); Iowa Association of Realtors (Chairman, Legislative Committee); Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce (Chairman, Governmental Affairs Executive Committee); Boatmen’s Bank of Urbandale; United Way of Central Iowa; Polk Des Moines Taxpayers Association; Racing Association of Central Iowa; Central College Board of Trustees; Greater Des Moines Partnership Choose Des Moines Communities (Chair); Life Care Retirement Communities; and Drake University Board of Trustees.
